Opening the ledger
This site needed a place for everything that doesn’t fit a working paper, so here it is: a ledger. Entries will cover economics, data analysis and commentary, what I’m learning in class, the projects I’m building, half-formed paper ideas, and the occasional piece of life news. I’m aiming for something between daily and a couple of times a week — short entries most days, longer ones when a topic earns it.
Two motivations. First, writing in public is the fastest way I know of to find out whether I actually understand something. Second, I want to hone a voice — the kind of plain, direct writing that good empirical work deserves. The only way to get there is reps.
The name is literal. A ledger is a daily record of transactions; this one records intellectual ones — what I read, built, estimated, got wrong, and revised.
Entry № 001, on the books.
